Experience:  Parents are fighting and I decide that I must be crazy.  I go outside and say to myself, “a crazy person would touch the sidewalk,” so I touch it, then, “a crazy person would run her finger along the trash cans,” so I run my finger along the trash cans.  Then, “a crazy person would touch the leaves on the weeping willow and dance with the branches,” so I did that.  Then, “a crazy person would touch the petals of the begonias,” so I did.  “A crazy person would circle the house twelve times, touching and feeling everything.”  So I did.  Then, “a crazy person would kneel down on the ground and look closely at the dark crystals of dirt.”  An ant crawled along, and suddenly, I imagined the scale of the ant and then saw the big maple tree in the front yard.  It was dizzying, but as I got up I noticed how the world changed with every inch I rose.  Each different angle made the world a different place than it had been a moment ago.
